Kopast keeps a record of things you copy. That is as sensitive as data gets, so this page is specific rather than reassuring.
What the app stores, and where
Everything Kopast captures is written to a single SQLite database and a
folder of files inside
~/Library/Application Support/Kopast on your Mac. That
is the whole of it. There is no Kopast account, no server holding a copy,
and no sync.
What the app sends
The app makes exactly two kinds of network request, both listed here:
- Link previews. When you copy a URL, Kopast fetches that page once to read its title and icon. The request goes to the site you copied, and to nobody else. Nothing about you is attached to it.
- Licence registration and updates. Entering a licence
key sends the key and an anonymous identifier for the Mac to
kopast.app, so the three-Mac limit can be counted. The update check asks the same host for a version file. Neither request carries clipboard content.
The copy, search and paste loop makes no network request at all. Image text recognition runs on your Mac through Apple's Vision framework — images are never uploaded.
What is never recorded
- Anything copied from an excluded app. Ten password managers are excluded by default, and you can add any app.
- Anything the source app marks as concealed or transient — most password fields, one-time codes, and similar.
Analytics and crash reports
The app sends no analytics and no crash reports. If you choose to email a crash log, that is a message you wrote and sent deliberately.
This website
The site sets no cookies and runs no advertising or cross-site tracking, which is why there is no consent banner. Aggregate page counts are collected without cookies and cannot identify you.
Buying sends you to a checkout operated by Paddle.com Market Limited, the merchant of record. Paddle receives your name, email, billing country and payment details directly; Kopast receives your email address and the country, which are needed to issue and support the licence. Payment card details never reach us. See Paddle's privacy notice.
Your data, your call
Clipboard history is on your disk: delete a single item with ⌘⌫, or clear everything from the menu bar. Removing the app and that folder removes all of it. For the purchase record held against your email — access, correction or deletion — email [set PUBLIC_EMAIL_DOMAIN].
Note for Rakesh, delete before launch: this is a truthful draft that matches how the app actually works, but it is not legal advice. Have it read once by someone qualified, and fill in the trading name and address your Paddle account is registered under — several jurisdictions require a named data controller.
