A clipboard you can search.
Press ⌘⇧V, type a few letters, press ↵. Kopast finds anything you have copied — including the words inside your screenshots. It never leaves your Mac.
14-day trial, everything unlocked. No account. No subscription, ever.

The part nobody else has
Search the text inside your screenshots.
Every image you copy is read on capture, on-device, and folded into the same index as everything else. Type three words you only ever saw in a screenshot, and the screenshot comes back. No upload, no API key, no wait.
Demo video goes here
30 seconds, no narration, no cuts: copy a screenshot of an invoice,
switch apps, hit ⌘⇧V, type net 30, press ↵.
Save as public/demo.mp4 and uncomment the video tag in
src/pages/index.astro.
Local by construction
Not a privacy policy. An architecture.
One file on your disk
Everything lives in a single SQLite database and a folder of blobs, inside your own Library. There is no server to opt out of, because there is no server.
One network call, ever
When you copy a link, Kopast fetches its title and icon. That is the only request the app makes. The copy–find–paste loop makes none.
Password managers excluded
Ten of them, out of the box, plus any app you add. Anything the system marks concealed or transient is never written down at all.
Keyboard first
The whole app, without the mouse.
No Dock icon. No main window. A panel that opens where Spotlight opens, sized to whatever it has to show, and gone the moment you are done.
- ⌘⇧V
- Open the panel
- type
- Search everything, including text read out of images
- ↑ ↓
- Move — ⌘↑ ⌘↓ jump to the ends
- ↵
- Paste into the app you were just in
- ⌘↵
- Paste as plain text
- ⌘1–⌘9
- Paste the nth row directly
- → ←
- Open and close the preview
- ⌘P
- Pin — pinned items sit at the top, and never expire
- ⌘C
- Copy without pasting
- ⌘O
- Open a link, or reveal a file in Finder
- ⌘⌫
- Delete
- esc
- Clear the search, then close the preview, then dismiss
Pasting puts your own clipboard back 400 ms later, so reaching into history never costs you what you had copied.
You already have one, sort of
macOS 26 added clipboard history. Here is where it stops.
Spotlight's version is off by default, holds plain text for up to a week, and has no shortcut of its own. It is a good reason to want a real one.
| Capability | macOS 26 Spotlight | Kopast |
|---|---|---|
| What it keeps | Plain text only — rich formats flattened | Text, links, images and files, with thumbnails |
| Size limit | Drops anything over ~16,000 characters | None |
| How long | 30 minutes, 8 hours or 7 days | 7, 30, 90 days or forever |
| Pinning | None | ⌘P — pinned items never expire |
| Exclusions | Only the source app can mark content concealed | 10 password managers by default, plus your own list |
| Getting to it | No global shortcut, no menu bar | ⌘⇧V, recordable — and a menu-bar item |
| Images | Not searchable | Read on-device with OCR, and searchable |

What a “lifetime licence” means here
It means this major version, forever — not a year of updates and then a renewal invoice dressed up as something else.
A new major version lands roughly every 18–24 months and is a paid upgrade at about 50% off for anyone who already owns Kopast. That is how a one-time price stays honest instead of quietly becoming a subscription. Bug fixes and new features inside a major version are always free.
Why not a subscription
There are no servers, no per-user costs, and nothing recurring being delivered. Charging monthly for software that runs entirely on your own machine is a tax, and you would be right to resent it.
Copy something. Forget about it.
